I participated in the Make It In Design Summer School 2018, and what a great experience it was! This edition of the summer school included design trends supplied by WGSN and Porter and Brawn.
TREND BRIEF 1
JUNGLE LUXE - BUGS
Bugs aren't something I usually draw, so I started by creating a few sketches and making observations. I didn't have a pattern or colour palette in mind but I hoped to visualise the pattern after few rounds of sketching. Once I had a bit of practice drawing bugs, I moved on to creating a digital seamless pattern. Adobe Illustrator was my tool of choice. I created a basic repeat with butterflies and dragonflies against broad leaves, vines and jungle berries. An earthy colour palette was chosen to give it a vintage vibe.
TREND BRIEF 2
HOMELAND FLORA - ETCHED AND SKETCHED
I loved this brief! I enjoy drawing florals, and I took the opportunity to explore a few different styles and mediums before finishing up the final sketches in Adobe Illustrator. I focused on creating a design that would work well with interiors and tableware.
